Hagerstown Magazine Announces Pay-What-You-Want Subscription Campaign
September 2008 — Hagerstown Magazine launches Pay-What-You-Want subscription campaign during the months of September and October. Hagerstown: The Best of Life in Washington County & Beyond is a bimonthly lifestyles publication that features stories and photographs about Washington County and the surrounding area, including Frederick County, Md., Berkeley County, W.Va., and Franklin County, Pa.
To celebrate its 4th anniversary, the magazine is running a never-before offered campaign in which new readers can subscribe to the magazine for one year — and name their price for the annual subscription. This pay-what-you-want model has been used as a promotional tactic in the international publishing and recording industry by recording artists such as Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails, indie pop-culture magazine Paste, and media giant Inc. magazine.
Throughout the month of September, newcomers to Hagerstown magazine can pay whatever they choose for a 1-year subscription, which includes 6 issues of the 160+ page magazine, plus annual HM Home and HM Bride magazines. A regular subscription normally costs $16 + sales tax. Offer ends October 31, 2008.
To subscribe, send in a subscription card from the current copy of the magazine available on newsstands, email Circulation Manager Lauren Stone at Lauren@ridgerunnerpublishing.com or call (240) 313-3940 x21.
