UNIVERSITY PARK, Maryland -- The Environmental Finance Center located at the
University of Maryland announces the launch of Foodtrader.org, a virtual
farmer's market that will connect both buyers and sellers with local food as
soon as it is harvested. In concert with its sister site Agtrader.org,
Foodtrader.org will give consumers access to the rich diversity of agricultural resources within the state of Maryland.

With Foodtrader.org, farmers can create an instantaneous listing that will identify the description, quantity, price, and location of their items. Consumers can search listings within specific categories and communicate
directly with the farmer to buy the food at the farm, at a farmers market or
at another prearranged location.

COLLEGE PARK - The University of Maryland says consumers can now buy
directly from farmers through a new online farmer's market.  FoodTrader.org
lets small, independent Maryland farms create listings of fresh foods for
sale, as well the price and location.  The site, launched by the university's Environmental Finance Center, went live July 15th and has
listings from more than 20 farms offering products that include specialty
cuts of meat, fruits, vegetables, flowers, honey, dairy products and even
soap made from goat's milk.

Another Maryland based web site is www.MarylandAgriculture.info
http://www.marylandagriculture.info/

This site was developed for
members of the agricultural community and everyone wishing to learn more
about agriculture.  This site is maintained by the University of Maryland
Cooperative Extension and the goal is to increase exposure for agriculture
related businesses and organizations.  The site features farmers web sites,
both traditional and alternative, private farmers markets and farmers'
markets, fruit and vegetable growers, nursery and greenhouse information,
agricultural organizations and associations, agritourism sites and much
more.
